Need Some Vegetarian Friends? Try a Vegetarian Meetup Group

Being the only vegetarian you know is hard. This is especially true if you move to a new city, state or country where you don’t know many people at all. The best way to make new friends is to find people who share a common interest and the vegetarian diet is a great common interest to have.

There’s a cool site I just learned about called Vegetarian Meetup. They have listings of groups and events all over the word and I think that the site is a great idea for college students just leaving home, people who have moved to a new location or even people who have stayed put but recently become vegetarian.

The site allows you to search by city, state or country and find all kinds of vegetarian groups that invite newcomers to join in on their events.

Events might be something like a vegetarian potluck, a weekly dining out group, a party, a seminar or anything else that would be fun to get out and do with other vegans and vegetarians. The groups welcome all ages and all types of vegetarians.

This can be a great way to make friends, learn about local vegetarian restaurants and vendors, discover new dishes and recipes or just enjoy yourself with people who have a lifestyle similar to yours.

The site boasts over 240,000 members in over 800 groups all over the United States and in 26 other countries as well.

This makes it pretty likely that you can meet some great new vegetarian friends and find recreational or educational events that interest you.

Even if you have lots of vegetarian friends, Vegetarian Meetup could be a cool way to get out and do things you may not normally do. I think it’s a great idea and I’d love to hear from any of you that have already tried it or are active in it!
