5 of The Healthiest Juices You Can Buy

We’ve always drunk a lot of juice in our family. The kids weren’t allowed to have soda in the house, so I kept a lot of apple, orange and grape juice in the fridge. Of course, at the time I thought it was the healthiest solution. Now I know that many juices have just as much sugar in them as soda does and that whole fruit is better for nutrition and water is better for hydration.

However, most of us like to have something other than water to drink every now and then and fruit and vegetable juices are a popular choice. The problem is that so many of them are filled with artificial ingredients, tons of sugar and often, very little of the actual juice. I did some research and found a great post on Treehugger.com that lists nine of the healthiest fruit and vegetable juices available. Here are five great brands, all rated very highly for their ingredients and the nutritional punch each packs.

1. Naked Juice Green Machine

I love Naked Juice, although it can be a bit pricey, at about $4 a bottle. Green Machine is loaded with apples, kiwi, bananas, mango and pineapple, but it also has a ton of nutrients from broccoli, spinach, algae, wheat grass and other antioxidant-rich foods.

2. Odwalla Carrot Juice

I love the Odwalla products, partly because I try to eat locally and Odwalla sources their carrots right here in CA. The juice is wonderfully sweet and even the bottles are healthy – most are made from recycled sugarcane.

3. Santa Cruz Organics is a great product.

They make unusual flavors like Hibiscus Cooler and PassionFruit Nectar, which is a nice change from the same old apple and cranberry. The price isn’t bad, either, at about $5 for a quart sized bottle.

4. Uncle Matt’s Organic Grapefruit Juice

Uncle Matt’s is apparently the oldest organic orange juice brand in the US. In addition to their delicious grapefruit juice, they also make lemonade. All of the juices are freshly made, not from concentrate, and all from certified organic fruit.

5. Lakewood Organic Fruit Garden Summer Gold

Lakewood Juices are all organic, without any artificial ingredients and are also bottled in recyclable or reusable glass bottles. Each servings contains at least two servings of fruits and vegetables, which makes them an excellent choice for kids.

My favorite did not make the list- G.T.’s Kambucha. Is that a juice even?

I saw Uncle Matt’s at the store and had never heard of it so was leery to try it – I will try it now as long as the sugar is low. My kids love the Santa Cruz lemonades and they make great homemade popsicles.
